Traditional weekly markets
Along the “Route of a Thousand Kasbahs,” historic weekly markets are spread across the towns of Skoura, Khemis Telouat, Tinejdad, Rissani, Nkob, Agdz, and Nyaf, where visitors can discover a remarkable historical and commercial legacy. The Kelaat M’Gouna market takes place every Wednesday and is known for its unique products from the Valley of Roses, while the Amsemmir market, near the Todra Gorges, is held every Saturday.

Vast markets stand at the gates of the great desert, such as Khemis Merzouga, Souk Had Zagora, and the Mhamid El Ghizlane fair — ideal destinations for acquiring traditional Tuareg accessories. The Ouarzazate kissaria is one of the region’s leading shopping destinations, brimming with diverse craft products such as Tamegroute pottery, Ouzguita rugs, and Azlag daggers, alongside traditional clothing representing the region’s identity. Visitors can also explore the “Chez Les Artistes” gallery and shops such as “Cadeaux Berbères” and “Bazar Tombouctou,” known for their collections of Amazigh antiques and gifts.
Erfoud market and local herbalists
The Erfoud market is famous for its shops selling high-quality fossils and minerals, distinctive products of the Errachidia and Tafilalet region. Traditional herbal shops selling spices and medicinal herbs used in local cuisine are also widespread throughout the region — a valuable stop for enthusiasts of traditional medicine and herbal remedies.

In the Midelt area, the “Andaz Nouska” cooperative in the eastern High Atlas deserves a special visit: specializing in traditional embroidery and weaving, it offers a close-up look at local women’s craftsmanship.
